Are You Porn or Sex Addict?

It is painful to discover that millions of people from all walks of life suffer from a form of addiction or the other. This list include a diverse group made up of Christians, college students, tutors, old men and women, housewives, career professionals, gays, lesbians, whites, and blacks.

Sexual addiction has been given several names by sex and sexuality experts such as self-defeating behaviours, problematic hypersexuality, sexual dependency and sexual compulsivity. By any name, it is a uncontrollable behaviour that completely dominates the addict’s life.
Sexual addicts make sex a priority more important than family, friends, and work. Sex becomes the organizing principle of addict’s lives. They are willing to sacrifice what they cherish most in order to preserve and continue their unhealthy behaviour. This is slavery.
It may sound funny, but it is a fact that the lives of these men and women are controlled by their insatiable desire for sex and satisfaction of the flesh.

These compulsive sexual behaviours take control of the addicts’ lives and become difficult to manage which makes it very hard to quit. These behaviours manifest as bestiality, child molestation, rape and sexual violence, uncontrolled masturbation, compulsive heterosexual and homosexual relationships, pornography, prostitution, sex phone calls, exhibitionism, voyeurism, group sex, incest, group sex, anal sex, sex bondage, exhibitionism, voyeurism.

Take a look at these questions:

Do you seek sexual pleasure anywhere it could be found no matter the cost and consequences?

Do you try to bring intensity and excitement into your life through sex, but see yourself growing steadily emptier?

Do you use compulsive sex as a drug, to escape from feelings like anxiety, loneliness, anger, and self-hatred, as well as joy?

Do you try to conceal your dependency demands, growing more isolated from yourself from God, and from the very people you long to be close to such as spouse and children?

Are you unable to concentrate on other areas of your life because of thoughts or feelings you are having about another person or about sex?

If you answer more of "Yes" than "No", then there is a problem. Follow this blog as we discuss more on how to break free.
